Telephone
Scams and You!
Why is Total Recall concerned about telephone scams?
Telephone scams affects every one of our clients. Not a week
goes by without at least one company calling Total Recall for help and
advice after being victimized.
How is Total Recall fighting scams?
To combat telephone scams, we train our staff to recognize potential
problems encountered on your phone lines. We also participate in criminal
investigations with federal, state and local law enforcement officials.
But because the most effective safeguard against scam is prevention, we're
committed to educating YOU!.
Who are the prime targets?
Anyone can be a victim of a phone scam. A con artist looking for a
victim doesn't care about your age, the color of your skin or your religion.
However, older people, recent immigrants and non-English speaking people
are the most frequent victims.
Why should you be concerned about telephone scams?
Phone fraud costs the telecommunications industry more than $4 billion
a year costs that are ultimately passed on to the consumer. So be aware
and protect yourself.
What should you do if you think you are a victim of telephone
fraud?
First, remember you can hang up. However, if you think you've already
been victimized, call your long-distance telephone company or the National
Fraud Information Center at 1 800 876-7060.
What should you do if you lose your calling card?
Take care of your calling card as if it were a credit card. If you
lose it, report the loss to your telephone company immediately.
